Be Still

Have you heard the voice of God lately? Have you felt Him wooing you, urging you to come closer to hear what He is saying? Or, have you been drawn to spectacle, crisis, thrill, sensation, disturbance, commotion and turmoil? As actors on the stage of life, we are either following Jesus Christ or a form of godliness.

Many Hollywood actors openly admit using spirits to enhance their acting ability while many Christians find it difficult to fit prayer into their busy schedules. Witnessing of Christ to the lost is not being accomplished as effectively as the New Age movement is being promoted.

denzel20washingtonDenzel Washington said on an interview with 60 minutes, “I basically got down on my knees and communicated with the spirits and when I came out, I was in charge.

Oprah, in a Good Housekeeping article (12/98 p.113) stated, “I ask myOprah Photo body to be the carrier for the spirits of those who have come before me in a way that is most meaningful to the character, ...just become the vehicle for that character. I tried to empty myself and let the spirit...inhabit me.

Oprah is not satisfied with allowing the spirits to inhabit only her body, she is now actively promoting the largest new age church in the world. Its first service was March 3, 2008, with attendance of over 300,000. Two months later, the attendance is over 2 million. The first “Mass Trance” was held March 17, 2008. She calls herself a “free thinker”, yet the scripture plainly tells us to put on the mind of Christ. She has definitely creep into houses (via TV), and lead captive silly women (and men). It is interesting that George Drance, a Jesuit actor, used this same verbiage in an interview with the National Catholic Reporter (issue of May 5, 2006). He said, “I pray before every performance, sometimes by myself and sometimes the group I am with will ask me to lead them. I dedicate my performance to God and try to focus on emptying myself so the Spirit can find a clear channel.

beetlesjoe20namathMaharishi Mahesh Yogi, the founder of the Transcendental Meditation (TM) movement, who taught the Beatles to meditate, made "mantra" a household word in the 1970s and built a multimillion-dollar empire on a promise of inner harmony and world peace, died February 5, 2008. He was believed to have been 91. The Indian philosopher, who brought his brand of Eastern mysticism to the West in the late 1950s, had attained a cult-like following by the end of the 1960s, when his message of peace resonated with a counterculture in bloom. His most famous followers were the Beatles, who spent a month at his ashram in India in 1968 and wrote some of their more popular songs there. By the mid-1970s, TM had an estimated 600,000 practitioners, including actresses Shirley MacLaine and Mia Farrow; football star Joe Namath and pop singer Donovan. shirley20mcclainWhere is the church of the Living God? Are we emptying ourselves so the Spirit of God can use us for His Glory? Are we spending as much time in communication with Christ as the new age church is spending in meditation with spirits for direction? The word of God says, “Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.” Is God being exalted in your life or are your problems being exalted? Is God being exalted among the heathen in your city? Is God being exalted in the earth to the same degree as the new age movement? Well, ladies, it’s up to us to exalt Him. We are His vessels. We must empty ourselves so the mind of Christ can fill and guide us to those that are lost. As we conform to God’s Word, daily, we become like Him. Anger, bitterness, hurts, fears and depression all become a thing of the past. We begin walking in joy and victory. The New Age Movement is all about helping each other find love, joy and peace. How much more should the church of the Living God be leading the way in helping others—bikers, non-bikers and those that are different from us, find rest, deliverance and healing through Jesus Christ our Lord. True love, joy and peace will then follow.
